Quick Introduction

The latest model in the Commercial series treadmills, NordicTrack’s Commercial 2950 has been widely popular ever since it was introduced. From its generous screen size to other perks we’re about to describe, it can be your go-to choice if you aren’t short on budget.

Here’s all we love about the Commercial 2950:

  • Luxurious 22” Display

The 22” web-enabled touchscreen console on this model is something we can’t get enough of. Think of your favorite workout videos displayed in bright vibrant colors over such an ample screen size. We most appreciated this screen when we used the virtual running locations on iFit. The explorer-like feeling was real on this one!

As it is, 22 inches is quite a big improvement from the 14-inch screen on its younger sibling, the Commercial 2450. For once, getting off the treadmill might be difficult for you if you’re a screen addict like we are!

  • Limitless Coaching with and without iFit

We really appreciate the iFit-readiness of all the Commercial series treadmills by NordicTrack. As a cherry on top, NordicTrack is offering free iFit family membership for a year with purchase of the Commercial 2950 in 2021.

iFit has played a huge role in keeping us moving and motivated, thanks to its library of 16,000+ workout videos, live personal training options by professional trainers, virtual running locations, challenges, marathons, stat tracking, and much more.

Once your year-long free access ends, you can get a monthly paid subscription to iFit. A single membership allows around four user profiles so that you can make the most of it.

  • Cushioning Technology that Protects Your Joints

Runner’s Knee, also known as Patellofemoral Stress Syndrome, is common among hardcore runners, or those using a treadmill at high speeds. This knee pain can be quite distressing. While experts recommend using a slight incline of 2 to 3% to reduce the impact, NordicTrack have been thoughtful enough to provide a built-in solution to this problem since 2013.

Known as Runners Flex™ Cushioning technology, it can be switched on to provide a shock-absorbing surface for you to run, reducing impact on your joints. You can always choose to turn it off if you need a harder running surface. With this feature turned on, we could really feel the difference!

  • A Motor that Supports Intense Workouts

The 4.25 CHP auto-adjusting motor on the Commercial 2950 is more powerful than the 4.0 CHP one on the Commercial 2450. It has all the features we’ve always liked about the NordicTrack treadmill motors.

For starters, the large motor case helps in minimizing vibrations for a smooth running experience. Dual cooling fans make the motor self-cooling and make any concerns about overheating unnecessary. Protective features further give the impression of a motor that is built to last. The higher CHP supports more intense workouts for longer durations, even by multiple users. One thing we really appreciate is the quietness of the motor, enabling us to work out in peace.

  • A Quiet Tread Belt of Top-Notch Quality

Just like the tread belts on other Commercial series treadmills, the one on the Commercial 2950 is quiet and smooth-running. The latest 2950 upgrade, in fact, uses WhisperQuiet™ technology for a peaceful running experience.

We were able to enjoy a smooth run with this durable 2-ply tread belt. It is stretch-resistant and stays quite centered without making a racket like inferior quality running decks. In combination with the 2.5” precision-machined and balanced non-flex rollers, it is designed to minimize noise when in use.

  • Heart Monitoring Features

We found the handlebars having built-in monitors quite responsive, giving a reading of our heart rates within seconds of gripping them. Knowing your heart rate helps you adjust your treadmill settings accordingly so that you can stay in the right zone for a goal-oriented workout.

  • Folding Option to Save Space

This feature has come in quite handy for us since we can get this treadmill out of the way when it is not in use. It uses EasyLift™ Assist technology through which the running deck folds upwards to save space. It is also present in the other Commercial series treadmills as well.

  • A Wide Range of Speeds and Incline

Just like the ones before it, the Commercial 2950 allows for speeds up to 22 km/h which are good enough for even professional runners. The -3 to +15% incline further adds variety to your workouts. We could seriously feel the burn when walking even on low speeds at an incline of above 10.

  • Cooling Fans for Comfortable Workouts

NordicTrack has certainly taken user comfort to the next level. With dual strategically positioned cooling fans, working out is almost a breeze! Not quite – but they are certainly welcomed!

We love how NordicTrack Commercial’s signature quietness is maintained in this model, how they’ve upgraded the screen to a luxurious 22 inches, the cooling fans to three in number, and most importantly, the free year-long access to iFit. From our experience, the Commercial 2950 seems like a great choice.

Pros

  • Largest screen of the Commercial series treadmill at 22 inches wide
  • Internet compatibility keeps you engaged
  • iFit-ready treadmill offers a world of workout options to try
  • Free family iFit membership for a year is an undeniable perk
  • Quiet motor and running deck for a smooth, peaceful experience
  • Spacious running belt that resists stretching and accommodates tall users well
  • Runners Flex™ Cushioning lessens impact on joints when switched on
  • Dual cooling fans for a comfortable running session
  • High maximum speed of 22 km/h is great for professional athletes too
  • Incline option to add more variety and challenge
  • Folding feature saves space
  • Heart rate monitors in handlebars
  • The warranty package is enough for some problem-free years ahead

Cons

  • Assembly can be quite the challenge
  • Not suitable for users heavier than 135 kg
  • iFit will need a paid monthly membership after your year-long trial period
  • Considerable price hike from the previous models
  • The system display freezes often according to a few customers. (We have not experienced this)

Warranty Summary

The NordicTrack Commercial 2950 comes with:

  • 2-year parts
  • 1-year labor warranty
  • 10-year frame warranty

Conclusion

We love how NordicTrack’s signature treadmill from the Commercial Series delivers very smooth and quiet despite the larger 4.25 CHP motor. Beyond elements included in lower trim Commercial Series treadmills such as the folding feature, cushioning technology, and wide speed and incline ranges, the Commercial 2950 with its powerful motor and luxurious 22-inch touchscreen, seems like a great choice.
